I'm not sure what else has been cut, but I have heard that the religious education coordinator, Sally Oxman, is having her hours reduced so that she would no longer be full-time. The custodian account is also facing a cut.
I don't know what else is on the chopping block.
But it is important to recognize that music alone is not taking the full hit.
What I haven't heard yet is any debate with the fundamental point: that the church is eyeing these major cuts in order to have the money needed to pay for a second full-time minister. Like most of the congregation, I'm curious to hear why that position is more important than the music programs, religious education and more.

I'd like to know, too, why a second minister is more important than everything else.
Some thoughts ....
What about unbundling the music program and discussing each piece of it separately? I am not sure losing the bell choir (as an example) or some of the guest soloists would impact me as much as the children not having a voice. If we did that, perhaps we could consider parents funding the children's program or adult choir members buying their own music or items like that. I paid for religious education this year and it was ok.
I would also like to revisit the idea of a 2nd full time minister. A part-timer might be harder to find but be right for the congregation.
Why do we need a second minister? Two people can't talk at once.
